FIN*Kehrääjän cattery is registered under FIFé. We have commit ourselves to follow the rules of FIFé, Federation Internationale Féline and SRK (Finnish Cat Association).
Our home club is TUROK.

* The Finnish word 'Kehrääjä' means either a purring cat or a spinner. The word 'Kehrääjän' (as it is in my cattery name) is a genitive form. It can be translated as Purrer's or Spinner's.

ABOUT US

I got my first Norwegian Forest Cat in 1993 when FIN*Dunderkattens Adolf came to us (me and my parents) He was bought as a pet but because of the breeders request we showed him once. That one time lit the spark and now we are both showing and breeding Norwegian Forest Cats. When Aatu celebrated his 10th birthday 11.07.2002, FIN*Kehrääjän 6th litter was just about ready to move into their new homes.
Aatu left us on the last day of June 2003. No words can say how much I miss him.

I got the cattery name FIN*Kehrääjän in 1995. The first litter was born into my cattery the next year.

Since then we have had kittens 1-3 times per year. This way we can provide a nurturing and loving environment and enough time to all the kittens born in our cattery. That is - in my opinion - the most important aspect in breeding both physically and mentally healthy kittens.

My ambition is to breed cats that correlate well with the standard of Norwegian Forest cat. Big sized, strong boned cats with the 'wild' weggie expression. Cats with beautiful full coats and long and bushy tails. I also pay extra attention to the nature of the cats I use in my breeding. I only use good natured cats.

All our cats live indoors as family members. They have access everywhere in our home. They have taken over a big part of our bed, too.

The kittens are born in our bedroom and raised as family members. They've been handled a lot and they've gotten used to other cats and us humans (with our noisy manners and gadgets). We'll do everything we possibly can for the kittens to develop into social, curious and brave individuals. The kind of Purrers* we can be proud of.

Welcome to browse our page and get to know this wonderful breed!
